Pack (or wait for us to do it)
If we are not undertaking your packing service, check out some of our tips below to help you get prepared.
- Don't bring what you don't want. Think about furniture, clothes, decorations that won't work in your new home. Get rid of them before the move. We can also assist with disposal services.
- Pack early. The items you wont need for a while can be sitting in the corner while you focus on other tasks.
- Clearly label cartons and boxes with content and specific rooms for the new home. Colour coding boxes is also a great tip.
- Pack books in smaller boxes and lighter things like pillows and blankets in larger boxes. Be careful of weight of boxes, not exceeding 30kg.
- Pack your fragile items well. Using bubble wrap, blankets and fill empty spaces in cartons with pillows or bed sheets. We can provide you with professional boxes and packing paper.
- Think about using clothes boxes for easy transport. Everything goes on the hanger.
- Keep your TV box. The box was designed to protect your product. Always keep original packaging of fragile items.
- Unplug fridge/freezer at least 24 hours before your home move.
- Don't water plants on moving day.
- Ensure there is adequate access for the team on moving day in stairwells and corridors.
Arrange parking permits
Ensure there is parking available at both your properties for ease on move day.
Without proper parking permits, the move can take much longer than anticipated. Generally, you can organise parking permits from your local Geminde or ask us to do it for you!
